“North east was always on my bucket list, as a pilot I have flown so many times to the Northeast of India but I never got a chance to explore it. This time I decided to uncover the beautiful state, the “abode of clouds” to check it off my list,” he said.

Gaurav’s journey to Meghalaya: In his words …

Day 1:

I rented a car from Guwahati and drove to Shillong on the first day. The next day I went to Laitlum, the grand canyon of India, where the view was immensely calming and I was at a loss of words. From Laitlum, I drove for about 2.5 hrs to Krang Suri water falls, located in Janita Hills. It’s one of the most scenic waterfalls of Meghalaya with blue water and lush green surroundings.

Day 2:

The following day, I left for Dawki and let me tell you, the drive from Shillong to Dawki was mesmerizing, full of picturesque locations, waterfalls and mountains. Dawki was the main attraction for me on this trip for it is very close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. Dawki is famous for night camping and boating in the Umngot River, which is the cleanest river in India (Crystal clear water).  Being my first camping experience, it was new for me but I quite liked it.

Day 3:

I left for Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra among the local people, the next morning. It’s best if you start your day early as the sun sets by 4:30 in the east. Sohra (the land of waterfalls and caves) is still under-explored if I may.

The highlight of the tour was the double-decker living root bridge made completely of tree roots. The trek to the bridge was a walk down 5000 steps and then back up again which took about 5-6 hours.

Half aviator, half YouTuber, Gaurav loves travelling and has seen the world through the eyes of a pilot and is now capturing moments through his camera lens letting everyone in on his adventures, giving a true view of what he sees and thinks making his channel extremely relatable and not just a fancy video cut of his trips!
